Donors and supporters are the life blood of Bel Air and we appreciate them greatly. Here’s a posting from Grenada Broadcast, written by Prudence Greenidge of Grenlec on the support of our nursery expansion project.
On Tuesday, 18 February, the new Nursery Extension funded by GRENLEC was blessedby Fr. Clifton Harris. The children sang songs of thanksgiving and the Management acknowledged GRENLEC’s recent contributions of $187,675, as well as the Company’s affiliation with the institution from its inception.
Through its Community Partnership Initiative, GRENLEC provided $126,414 for the construction of a Nursery Extension that provides separate sleeping quarters for the younger residents of the Home, among other things.
Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Belair Home, Claudia Alexis also expressed gratitude to GRENLEC for its additional support. “GRENLEC responded favourably to our request for assistance in repairing our damaged roof and came to the rescue with a contribution of $43,261. The Company also gives an annual contribution of $18,000 towards the upkeep of the Home. This was GRENLEC’s first major project and they contributed $1 M to construct the Belair Home, and later funded a day-care at the facility.”
Corporate Communications Manager of GRENLEC, Prudence Greenidge, underscored the special relationship that GRENLEC shares with the Belair Home, as well as other Care Institutions for children and the elderly. “We extend thanks to the board, staff and volunteers for the work you do and we are happy to be able to help to support your efforts to improve the quality of care of vulnerable members of our community.”
In 2013, GRENLEC’s support to Care Institutions, including the Mt. Gay Hospital and Programme for Adolescent Mothers was nearly $400,000.
The Company is currently reviewing project submissions to its GRENLEC Community Partnership Initiative, where social services is again an area of priority for support.
